Bechem United Owner Criticizes Kurt Okraku, Calls for Urgent Reform in Ghana Football

Kingsley Owusua Achiaw, the owner of Bechem United, has raised concerns about Kurt Okraku's performance in elevating football standards in Ghana.

His discontent follows the disappointing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) showing by the Black Stars, resulting in their early exit and the subsequent removal of head coach Chris Hughton.

Despite the Black Stars' esteemed history, accumulating only two points in the group stage raised questions about the leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

In a recent interview, Mr. Owusu Achiaw expressed his worry, stating, "Ghana football has collapsed under Kurt Okraku, and nobody can even defend it. It's time for the GFA leadership to wake up and fix the situation."

Highlighting specific grievances, Achiaw pointed out the decline in football performance compared to the era under Kwesi Nyantakyi. He emphasized the need for decisive actions, urging the GFA to address the challenges affecting the sport.

Achiaw remarked, "We saw how our football was performing under Kwesi Nyantakyi, but you cannot say the same thing for Kurt Okraku. The game is struggling, and it is about time the GFA takes decisive measures."

Simultaneously, a five-member committee has been formed to recommend a new coach for the Black Stars, underscoring the urgency for reform within Ghana football.
