BREAKING: Afua Asantewaa's attempt at a sing-a-thon failed—Guinness World Record

Afua Asantewaa has been officially disqualified as a candidate for the Guinness World Record for the longest individual singing marathon

Tweets from GWR's social media accounts reveal that the record for longest singing marathon was unsuccessful, but the company expresses its hope that Afua will try again soon.

"Unfortunately Afua's Guinness World Records attempt for the longest singing marathon was not successful, but we hope that she will make another attempt soon. We've seen how inspirational it has been for her fans. The evidence check had already begun before Afua requested priority service, so we refunded her payment earlier this month. We wish Afua the best of luck with any future record attempts" GWR tweeted in response to a fan's question about Afua record.

From midnight on Sunday, December 24th, until seven in the morning on December 29th, Afua Asantewaa sang nonstop for five days straight.

The young woman had been singing for five days, six hours, and fifty-five minutes when she ended her record attempt on Friday morning.

Afua Asantewaa recently revealed that she and her team paid for the priority review because they waited weeks for an official word from Guinness World Record regarding her quest to set a record for longest singing marathon by an individual, but they never received one.

Afua claims that there are additional, hidden fees that add up to $750 on top of the $650 priority review price.

For Ghanaians, this disqualification is a devastating setback.
