DCOP Lydia Donkor Assumes Key Role in Ghana Football Association



DCOP Lydia Donkor, Director-General of the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB), has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Security Committee for the Ghana Football Association.


Bringing a wealth of experience to the position, DCOP Lydia Donkor is not only the Chairperson for the Police Ladies Football Club but also a seasoned lawyer with 24 years of practice.


Having commenced her career with the Ghana Police Service as a lawyer, DCOP Lydia Donkor holds a master of law degree from the University of Leeds and a qualifying degree from the Ghana School of Law. Her extensive background positions her as a valuable asset to the Security Committee, particularly in the realms of crowd control and public safety.


In her new role, DCOP Lydia Donkor will spearhead efforts to ensure the safety and security of spectators, players, and officials at various match venues. The appointment underscores the Ghana Football Association's commitment to enhancing safety measures within the footballing community.


Assisting DCOP Lydia Donkor in this crucial endeavor is FIFA and CAF Safety and Security officer Nick Owusu (Capt. Retd.), who assumes the role of Vice Chairman. Nick brings a decade of experience in safety and security matters, having covered games for both the Confederation of African Football and the global football governing body, FIFA.


The Security Committee further comprises members with diverse expertise, including Emmanuel Osei, Felix Bewu, and Ebo Hagan, forming a comprehensive team dedicated to ensuring a secure and enjoyable environment for all involved in Ghanaian football.
