Deputy Minister Urges Inclusive Participation in Agritech West Africa Exhibition

Hon. Yaw Frimpong Addo, the Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Food and Agriculture overseeing crops, delivered a compelling call to action at the inauguration of the Agritech West Africa Exhibition.

The event, held at the esteemed Accra International Conference Centre, brought together farmers, stakeholders, and the general public to engage in the advancement of the agricultural sector.

Addo underscored the exhibition's pivotal role in aligning with governmental efforts to enhance the agricultural landscape. By showcasing innovations and opportunities across the entire value chain, from production to value addition, the event serves as a catalyst for collaboration and progress within the industry.

A focal point of Addo's address was the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) initiative, particularly its phase II rollout. He urged farmers to seize the benefits of this program, emphasizing its potential to elevate productivity, improve market access, and promote sustainability in agriculture.

In addition to government-led initiatives, Addo emphasized the importance of collaboration and partnership among industry stakeholders. Recognizing the efforts of organizers such as AgriTech West Africa, FoodPack Tech-Ghana, and Food and Beverage Ghana-West Africa, he encouraged attendees to leverage the platform for networking and knowledge exchange.

Addressing prevalent challenges like post-harvest losses and market access, Addo reassured stakeholders of the government's commitment to finding solutions. Initiatives such as providing ready markets and facilitating access to land and inputs through Aggregators demonstrate a proactive approach to addressing industry obstacles.

In closing, Addo reiterated the ministry's dedication to supporting farmers and fostering sustainable agricultural practices. Through inclusive participation and collective action, he emphasized the potential for Agritech West Africa Exhibition to drive meaningful progress and prosperity within Ghana's agricultural sector.
