Former Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney, has said the team will not finish in the Premier League top four this season.
Rooney was speaking on TNT Sports, after the Red Devils beat Everton 2-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The win means United remain in sixth place, with Aston Villa and Tottenham occupying fourth and fifth positions respectively.
Rooney believes Villa and Spurs have the advantage in the race for Champions League places.
He said: “I don’t think Manchester United will make the top four, because they have to almost win every game.
“I think they’re a team that are very inconsistent and I can’t see them winning every game, so I think it’s going to be very difficult.
“Today I think it was 20-odd chances against them, but there were no clear-cut chances for Everton. But it’s too many. There’s too many gaps, it’s too easy for teams to get opportunities against them.”
