Ghanaian businessman and politician Nana Kwame Bediako, known by his alias Cheddar, has stirred controversy by revealing that he keeps pet tigers on his property. Despite facing backlash from neighbors and calls for intervention from authorities, Bediako remains steadfast in his decision, citing plans to expand his collection of wild animals and ultimately build a zoo.

In an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, Bediako disclosed that he feeds his pet tigers, named Kunta and Kinte, a cow every three days. He defended his actions by explaining that he has constructed a facility to house the animals and has been permitted to care for them following an assessment of the premises.

The revelation of Bediako's plans to add a panther and lions to his collection has only fueled the controversy surrounding his ownership of exotic animals. However, he assures the public that he is well-equipped and resourced to ensure the safety of both the animals and any human beings who come into contact with them.

Bediako's decision to keep tigers as pets initially sparked concern among his neighbors, who expressed feelings of unease and called on authorities to intervene. Despite these concerns, Bediako remains resolute in his belief that Ghana can become a hub for breeding wild creatures such as tigers.

In his defense, Bediako stated, "My prime purpose for keeping the animals was to prove to naysayers that Ghana could eventually be one of the countries to breed wild creatures such as tigers." He also revealed his dream of building a zoo as part of his portfolio, which already includes museums and various infrastructure projects.

"I knew that it would open the tourism sector of this country," Bediako explained. "And we will be the first country in East Africa, West Africa, and North Africa that has bred tigers. I wanted to build a zoo as part of my portfolio."

Despite facing criticism, Bediako remains undeterred in his plans to expand his collection of wild animals and build a zoo. His ambitious vision aims to not only showcase Ghana's potential as a tourist destination but also contribute to the conservation efforts of endangered species.

As controversy continues to swirl around his ownership of exotic animals, Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, remains determined to pursue his passion for wildlife and leave a lasting legacy through the establishment of a zoo in Ghana.
