Colombian singer Shakira has bestowed the title of "the queen" of pop upon her American counterpart, Beyoncé, praising her for her groundbreaking contributions to women of color and women in general.
Speaking on the latest episode of her show, Shakira Radio Station on Apple Music, the 'Hips Don't Lie' crooner expressed her admiration for Beyoncé's impact and influence.
"She [Beyoncé] is the queen. I mean, this is just so incredible, what she does for minorities in the US and around the world, what she's done for women of color, what she's done for women in general. The purpose that her life and her music has, it's undeniable and it's of a great magnitude," Shakira remarked.
The acknowledgment comes as no surprise considering the history of collaboration between Shakira and Beyoncé, notably on the hit song 'Beautiful Liar' released back in 2006.
Shakira's tribute to Beyoncé underscores the profound impact of the latter's work, not only within the realm of music but also as a champion for social justice and equality.
