After discovering abnormalities in certification testing for diesel engines made by its unit, Toyota Industries, Toyota announced Monday that it will delay shipments of several models, including the Hilux truck and Land Cruiser 300 SUV.

Three kinds of diesel engines were discovered to have anomalies in their horsepower output testing by a special investigating group. Toyota (TM) announced that ten vehicles worldwide utilize the impacted engines.

These models include the Hiace van, Fortuner SUV, Innova multi-purpose vehicle, and Lexus-branded LX500D SUV. Separately, the largest carmaker in the world, Toyota, has been trying to settle a case of wrongdoing involving manipulated accident safety tests at Daihatsu, a specialist in tiny cars.

The business has pledged to take action, such as conducting certification testing for new engines in the presence of authorities, if necessary. Toyota Industries President Koichi Ito stated during a press conference that there was an absence of communication and coordination about testing protocols and procedures that should have been adhered to, as well as no communication with Toyota Motor.

During the fiscal year ending March 31, 2023, Toyota Industries sold approximately 84,000 of the impacted vehicle diesel engines. A company representative did not immediately disclose the precise number of impacted vehicles sold by Toyota over the years. The corporation re-verified that concerned engines and vehicles complied with engine performance output specifications.

It went on to say that the study had discovered discrepancies between the electronic control units utilized during engine manufacture and those used for evaluating horsepower output.

On Tuesday, an on-site inquiry will be carried out at the Hekinan facility in central Aichi prefecture, where Toyota Industries manufactures industrial and automobile engines, according to Japan's transport ministry. Forklift and construction machinery engine emissions performance certification rules were the first target of Toyota's probe, and it was there that the special investigative committee found wrongdoing.

One of the most important companies in the Toyota group, Toyota Industries, has a stake of over 25% in the corporation. In return, the supplier holds around 8% of Toyota's stock.

Shortly after the news broke, Toyota Industries' stock price dropped into the red, eventually falling 4%. Near the end of trading, Toyota Motor shares were up 3.1%.
