Ace musician D’banj has acknowledged the significant role his former business partner and producer, Don Jazzy, played in shaping his illustrious career. The ‘Oliver Twist’ hitmaker emphasized that his musical journey would be incomplete without the contributions of Don Jazzy.

D’banj made this heartfelt disclosure on Tuesday while sharing a clip from his courtesy visit to Don Jazzy, during which he handed him the invitation card for his 20th-anniversary dinner celebrating two decades in the music industry.

In the nostalgic video shared on his X handle, D’banj captioned it: “My 20 year journey cannot be complete without It’s @DONJAZZY again! Giving him the invite to my anniversary dinner was a moment filled with nostalgia. As we both celebrate 20 years in the industry, I’m reminded of the countless memories and milestones we’ve shared together. Here’s to two decades of brotherhood, entertainment, and unwavering support. Love you always, Brother! OooSHeeeee.”

D’banj and Don Jazzy co-founded Mo’Hits Records in 2004, a label that quickly rose to prominence in the Nigerian music scene. Their partnership resulted in numerous hits and propelled both artists to international fame. However, Mo’Hits disbanded in 2012, with Don Jazzy citing differences in interests as the reason for the split.

Despite the dissolution of Mo’Hits, both artists continued to thrive independently. Don Jazzy established the Mavins Record Label, which has since become one of Africa’s leading music labels, nurturing talents like Tiwa Savage, Rema, and Ladipoe. Meanwhile, D’banj founded DB Records, continuing his successful career and contributing significantly to the African music industry.

The reunion and mutual respect shared between D’banj and Don Jazzy highlight the enduring bond and professional admiration they have for each other. Their contributions have not only shaped the Nigerian music landscape but also set the stage for future artists to emerge and succeed.

The moment captured in the video reflects on the journey of two icons who, despite taking different paths, remain connected by their shared history and contributions to the music industry. D’banj’s acknowledgment of Don Jazzy’s impact serves as a testament to the importance of collaboration and support in achieving success.

As they both celebrate two decades in the industry, their stories inspire many aspiring musicians and demonstrate that while paths may diverge, the foundations laid through partnerships and mutual respect can lead to enduring legacies.

Their journey from co-founding Mo’Hits Records to their respective successes with Mavins Record Label and DB Records is a powerful reminder of the importance of collaboration, respect, and shared vision in the music industry.
