Michael Osei, the latest candidate for the Ghana Black Stars coaching position, emphasizes that an immediate focus on winning the AFCON shouldn't be the priority for any coach. He suggests redirecting attention towards establishing a formidable team for a long-term project. As he stated, "Instead of focusing on winning the AFCON right now, it is time to consider transition and building a powerful team."

If granted the opportunity, Osei envisions constructing the team around its young talents, placing a particular emphasis on players from the Ghana Premier League. In his words, "When given the opportunity to head the team, I plan to construct my team around the young people on the team, as most countries do." Additionally, he aims to provide chances for local players, striving to retain their talent within the country for the development of the senior national team.

Osei's philosophy centers on prioritizing the development of strong fundamentals over immediate trophy victories. Expressing his qualifications, he states, "For the time being, my focus is on developing strong basics rather than winning trophies. I am quite qualified and will be delighted if given the opportunity to lead the team," as conveyed during an interview on Akoma 87.9 FM.
